The Association
hosted Solvency II Conference
On 30 September 2011, the Association hosted Solvency II Conference - The
essentials for Pillars II and III & what’s next for Pillar I in Istanbul,
jointly organized by the Association and European Insurance and Reinsurance
Federation (CEA) in association with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). In the
conference, the opening speeches were made by Mr. Erhan Tunçay, Secretary
General of the Association and Mr. Ahmet Genç, Director General of General
Directorate of Insurance of the Undersecretariat of Treasury.During one-day
conference, the representatives of CEA, European Insurance and Occupational
Pensions Authority (EIOPA) and PwC discussed about the challenges of implementing
Solvency II in 4 sessions. The conference was attended by the officials
from member companies, General Directorate of Insurance of the Undersecretariat
of Treasury and Insurance Supervision Board.

On 17–20 September 2011, the Association participated to the IMIA Annual Conference held in Amsterdam. During the conference, the Association was represented by Mr. Atilla Oksay, Head of Technical Unit. During four-day conference, the experts discussed about the most prominent issues on the agenda of engineering insurers.
On 29 September–1 October 2011, the Association participated to the Annual Conference of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) in Korea. During the conference, the Association was represented by Mr. Mehmet Kalkavan, Deputy Secretary General of the Association. During three-day conference, sessions on macroprudential surveillance; innovation and insurance; supervisory practices and protection of consumers; financial stability and systemic risks were held.
