A Working Group on Prevention of Money Laundering
and Financing of Terrorism, composed of the representatives of the life and
non-life companies, has been established within the Association. The Working
Group will determine the priority issues to be discussed with Financial Crimes
Investigation Board (MASAK). The first meeting of the Working Group was held in
April 2011.
On 8 April 2011, the Association participated to the
symposium on “New Turkish Commercial Law ” held by the Turkish Insurance Law
Association. During the symposium, the Association was represented by Ms. Zeynep
Reva, Legal Affairs Specialist.During the two-session symposium, the novelties
introduced by the new Turkish Commercial Law were discussed.
The Association participated to the seminar on “EU Competition Law”
On 7–8 April 2011, the Associaton participated to
the seminar on “EU Competition Law” held by the Economic Development Foundation
and Yeditepe University in cooperation with the Turkish Competition Authority.
During the seminar, the Association was represented by Ms. Zeynep Reva, Legal
Affairs Specialist.
During the three-part seminar, the participants were informed about topics such
as vertical and horizontal agreements, abuse of dominance, mergers and
intellectual property rights.
On 13 April 2011, the Association participated to
the panel on "Solvency II". During the panel, the framework of Solvency II and its
impacts on the insurance sector were discussed. At the panel, the participants
were also informed about the Quantitative Impact Study 5 (QIS 5).
During the panel, Mr. Onur Acar, Responsible for Fiscal and Financial Affairs
made a presentation on “Importance of Awareness Raising on Solvency II”.
On 29 April 2011, the Association participated to
the 52nd General Meeting of the Turkish Lloyd held at the Turkish Lloyd
Foundation in Tuzla. During the meeting, the 2010 annual report, balance sheet
and supervisor reports were presented. Following the presentation of the 2011
budget, the new members of the Board of Directors and Auditing Commission were
elected.
