On 23-24 May
2011, 2011 International Insurance Summit was held by the Insurance Training
Center (SEGEM) in coordination with the Association. The Summit introducing the
“Turkish Insurance Model” was attended by the participants from the insurance
markets of Macedonia, Bosnia Herzegovina, Kosovo, Romania, Slovenia, Bulgaria,
Turkmenistan,
Kazakhstan,
Azerbaijan, Georgia, United Arab Emirates, Morocco and Iran.
On 19 May 2011, the Association participated to the workshop
on “Insurance in wider Europe: challenges and prospects” held by the Italian
Association of Insurance Companies (ANIA) and MIB School of Management in
Trieste.In the workshop, the Association was represented by Mr. Erhan Tuncay,
Secretary General of the Association.
One-day workshop has enabled the heads of the national insurance associations
from South Eastern Europe to exchange views and experiences about the
cooperation among insurance markets and institutions.
In the first session of the workshop, the publication on the insurance markets
in South- Eastern Europe was presented. Following the presentation, a roundtable
discussion was held to discuss the possible role of insurance market in the
development of economy in Wider Europe. In the final part of the first session,
the impacts and challenges of Solvency II were examined. In the second session,
the representatives from insurance markets exchanged views on the challenges of
Solvency II.
On 25 May 2011, the Association participated to the meeting
on “Towards Cooperation with Founder Institutions” held by the Foreign Economic
Relations Board (DEIK). During the meeting, the Association was represented by
Mr. Erhan Tuncay, Secretary General of the Association and Ms. Muge Soysal,
International Relations Specialist.
At the meeting, following the presentation made by Mr. Bahri Can Calıcıoglu,
Secretary General of DEIK, the board members discussed about the objectives to
enhance the cooperation between DEIK and its founder institutions.
