The Association held its Annual General Assembly

On 22 April 2010, the Association held its Annual General Meeting. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Hulusi Taşkıran, the President of the Association. During the meeting, the 2009 General Assembly Report was approved and budgetary issues were examined. At the end of the meeting, Mr. Erhan Tuncay, Secretary General of the Association made a presentation on the studies and activities conducted by the Association in 2009.

The final play of the season was put on stage on Children’s Day

The theater play on insurance for children sponsored by the Association ended its tour across Turkey and the final play of the season was put on stage on 23 April 2010 (Children’s Day) in Istanbul. The play which aims at creating awareness on insurance has reached more than 60.000 children from various age groups and their parents in 29 cities of Turkey. The play which tells the story of two children left home alone entertained children while teaching them about insurance. During the tour of the play, the Association also conducted awareness campaigns on insurance and insurance sector in the local media of the visited cities.

The Association will host the Solvency II Conference

On 11 May 2010, the Assocation will host the Solvency II Conference. The conference will be attended by the officials of the member companies.During the conference, the preparatory studies conducted by the Turkish insurance sector on Solvency II regulation and related sectoral experiences will be analyzed. At the conference, foreign experts will provide information about the three pillars of the Solvency II. During the conference, latest developments on Solvency II will be also discussed.

The Association participated to the 3rd Insurance Summit

On 21 April 2010, the Association participated to the 3rd Insurance Summit held by Active ACADEMY at Swissôtel in Istanbul. At the Summit, the opening speech was made by Mr. Erhan Tuncay, the Secretary General of the Association. During the 3rd Insurance Summit, officials from the insurance sector exchanged views on the developments and new strategies to be pursued in the sector .

On 29 April 2010, the Association held a meeting with the officials of the Revenue Administration and Undersecretariat Treasury.During the meeting, taxation issues in the insurance sector and related problems were discussed.

The Association hosted the meeting on legal process regarding responsibilities of administrative authorities in flood damages

On 26 April 2010, the Association hosted the meeting on legal process regarding responsibilities of administrative authorities in flood damages. At the meeting, the legal advisors of the member companies exchanged views on the responsibilities of administrative authorities in flood damages.

CEA’s “The European Motor Insurance Market 2010” Report was summarized and translated into Turkish by the Association

The Association summarized and translated into Turkish the CEA report entitled “The European Motor Insurance Market 2010”. The report analyzes the main features and country-specific implementations in the European motor insurance market in 2008. The summarized Turkish translation of the report is available on the Association’s Turkish website.
